Metal concentrations in Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx Linnaeus, 1758 in France

In France, the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx Linnaeus, 1758) faces threats from road collisions, illegal destruction and low genetic diversity. Other factors, such as exposure to trace metals (TMs), may impact the population, but no assessment of TMs in the French lynx population has been conducted yet. Liver samples were analysed from 11 individuals to determine the concentrations of eight trace metals: four non-essential (arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead) and four essential (copper, iron, selenium and zinc). The findings show that these TMs are unlikely to affect individual health through deficiency or overexposure.
