Colaconema basiramosum sp. nov. (Colaconemataceae, Rhodophyta) from the Sultanate of Oman, northern Arabian Sea

The red algal species Colaconema basiramosum (Colaconemataceae, Colaconematales) is newly described from the Sultanate of Oman, the Arabian Peninsula. Its distinctive features include undivided basal cells, suprabasal branching, monoecious gametophytes, and the apparent absence of monosporangia and tetrasporangia.
